RIC Blog Relaunches!

Your one-stop shop for all things RIC is back! Learn about bills that passed, the inner workings of House, and the state of the on-campus student. Here are a few semester-to-date highlights:

Semester Kickoff!

The response from students willing to serve their campus this year has been incredible. Well over thirty representatives showed up to learn the general proceedings of House as we entered the new school year! After the representatives became acquainted with each other through a speed dating icebreaker created by Director of Programs Philip Nuñez, Speaker of the House Jack Clay outlined bill structure, how to author or sponsor a bill, and RIC’s utilization of HogSync as the bill archive and voting platform. Now all they needed were some bills to debate…

About the Fall 2021 Exec Team

With a new semester, is a new executive team for RIC.

Our fearless leaders this year are Cael Losenegger (President), Zach Lee (Vice President) Madi Mikuska (Speaker of the House), Fern Milmon (AD/PR), Nate Cole (Sustainability), Michael Dortch (Programs), Nathan Hubbard (National Communications), Jackson Pittman (Volunteer Coordinator), Jade Thomas (Internal Affairs). To learn more about them, see our Exec tab! There you’ll find fun facts about these positions.

The goals of the team include retention and recruitment of a large group of RIC representatives, more collaboration and representation in other Registered Student Organizations, and a stronger community through non-business RIC meetings and gatherings.

If you’re not already aware, RIC’s the voice of the on-campus student, and it’s our hope to pass resolutions to push forward policies and ideas to better life for on campus students as well as use our extensive budget to pass bills for items, programs, and more for our residence halls.

More on the fun side, RIC will be hosting monthly events for a range of students throughout the year, and the first of these was our very recent Campus Lighting Tour! We had volunteers beyond our original capacities, and covered the entirety of campus identifying broken lights, and safety hazards for our facilities to fix and create a safer environment on campus.

Next month, there will be an RIC affiliates exclusive movie night for our reps and execs to get to know each other beyond the debate of bills. (Check our instagram, and groupme if you’re in it, for the date and information as it becomes available.)
