About Executive

The RIC Executive Branch is made up of nine Executives consisting of four elected officers and four appointed cabinet members. A fifth appointed cabinet member, the Director of Diversity and Inclusion, is a newly introduced position to RIC. After weekly House meetings, the President leads an Executive meeting. During these, Advisors and Executive members discuss matters of the organization and how each member can utilize their own position to work as a team in being the “voice of the on-campus student.” To learn more about current Executives, including contact information, go to the Executive Officers page.

President – The President serves as the main voice of the on-campus student, the “chief spokesperson,” working and communicating with members of the University of Arkansas, specifically within University Housing, to promote the needs and interests of all students who live on campus. They lead the rest of the executive cabinet with the goal of forming a team that can function successfully and effectively serve the on-campus student through their own unique positions. They meet frequently with various administrators and are expected to use their platform to amplify the desires of those they were elected to serve, advocating for the improvement of life on campus.

Vice President – The Vice President is RIC’s main liaison to the other organizations around campus, focusing on improving issues related to quality of life for on-campus students. They are expected to meet with other Registered Student Organizations, such as Associated Student Government and National Residence Hall Honorary, as well as University Departments, including Parking and Transit and Chartwells; the goal of these meetings is to foster active relationships that are conducive to supporting, collaborating, and partnering on programming, events, and policy. The Vice President chairs the External Affairs Committee, working with representatives to collect the feedback from residents and communicate the on-campus student voice to outside organizations.

Director of Internal Affairs – The Director of Internal Affairs acts as the main record keeper for all official RIC documents. They keep minutes in RIC House and RIC Executive meetings and organize the minutes appropriately so they can be accessible for representatives, executives, advisors, and the general on-campus population. They also keep track of both the RIC House Budget and the RIC Executive Budget. They update all records and store them in the appropriate locations for ease of access. The Director of Internal Affairs chairs the Budget Committee, working with representatives to score legislation with a grading rubric in order to provide the remainder of House with a budgetary perspective prior to the debate and voting periods.

Speaker of the House – The Speaker of the House serves as the main leader of the RIC House. They preside over meetings using parliamentary procedure and set and distribute meeting agendas. They are expected to communicate with representatives and authors of bills and resolutions so they can appropriately present on their legislation, and they advocate for all legislation that is passed in RIC House so that the RIC Executive Branch is able to act as necessary.

Director of Advertising and Public Relations – The Director of Advertising and Public Relations is the main publicist for RIC acting with one constant goal: enhancing the visibility of RIC on campus. It is their job to maintain the website, manage RIC social media accounts, and create graphics for RIC programming. They co-chair the Programs and Marketing Committee with the Director of Programs and work with representatives to create RIC-sponsored programs and advertise them to the on-campus student body.

Director of Programs – The Director of Programs is the main programming resource for all RIC sponsored events. They are expected to track the timing of RIC-sponsored programs and report to RIC House to increase the visibility of RIC programs. They also are the main organizer of RIC’s only constitutionally-required program, the Campus Lighting Tour, and work with Facilities Management, UAPD, and others to make the program productive and successful. They co-chair the Programs and Marketing Committee with the Director of Programs and work with representatives to create RIC-sponsored programs and advertise them to the on-campus student body.

Director of Sustainability – The Director of Sustainability acts as the main voice for sustainable practices within RIC and University Housing as a whole. They are tasked with acting as the liaison between the Office of Sustainability, RIC, and Housing. It is expected that they work to initiate and continue ideas and programs that help the University reach sustainability goals. They also act as a resource within the RIC Executive Team, for members of RIC House, and for all members of our On-Campus community in sustainability matters. They chair the Sustainability Committee and work with representatives to explore sustainability programming and to raise awareness of the importance of sustainability.

National Communications Coordinator – The NCC is RIC’s main liaison to our national and regional organizations. It is their responsibility to reaffiliate us with these organizations and collect and distribute materials from these organizations as appropriate. They also serve as the University of Arkansas’s delegation chair during regional and national conferences, register and prepare RIC for said conferences, help to create, organize, and submit award bids at conferences, and attend regional business chats. They chair the Conference and Bidding Committee, working with representatives to plan for conferences and organize bids.

Director of Diversity and Inclusion – The Director of Diversity and Inclusion is the main voice for matters of diversity and inclusion within RIC and University Housing. They are responsible for working with the Multicultural Center and RSOs across campus that serve minority students to advocate for policies that strengthen diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging within residence halls. They also serve as a resource for RIC representatives, residents, and resident assistants who are interested in addressing diversity-related concerns and ensure that RIC House legislation is inclusive and equitable. They chair the RIC Belonging Committee and work with representatives to foster programs and policies that are conducive to an inclusive environment on campus.
